Being a More Effective Advocate In and Out of Court

8:30AM to 5:00PM

This programme is being presented by the BVI Bar Association and General Legal Council, with the assistance of the American College of Trial Lawyers, and the support and participation of the BVI Judges and Magistrates, BVI International Arbitration Centre, Office of the Attorney General, and Office of the DPP.

It is an initiative to improve the functioning of the BVI Courts and enhance the practice of advocacy in BVI (before Courts, in arbitration and in other fora).
All advocates in the BVI are strongly encouraged to attend.

“Being a More Effective Advocate” will involve speakers, panel discussions, workshops (by practice area), and demonstrations aimed at improving each advocates effectiveness, as well as identifying general issues and their root causes, and developing ideas for systemic improvements.

Presenters and workshop discussion leaders will include The Rt Hon. Sir Dennis Byron, most (if not all) of our Honourable Judges and Magistrates, Fellows of the American College of Trial Lawyers, and several members of our Inner Bar and Utter Bar.
