Tribunal Secretary Training Webinar

An increasingly formal role, Tribunal Secretaries offer invaluable support to arbitral tribunals in the administration and management of arbitration proceedings, working both remotely and in person.
On 16 November 2021, the new 2021 BVI IAC Arbitration Rules entered into force. They facilitate and promote the use of Tribunal Secretaries in administered arbitrations. In association with the Caribbean ADR Initiative (CADRIn), the BVI IAC will offer a 2-day Tribunal Secretaries training program designed specifically for arbitration practitioners hoping to expand their services into this field.
The course will highlight the role and responsibilities of the Tribunal Secretary throughout the arbitral process. Participants will engage in practical exercises designed to help them develop the skills and acquire the knowledge necessary to carry out the role in a manner that supports the arbitral tribunal.
Upon completion, participants will understand:
- The role and responsibilities of Tribunal Secretaries in the arbitration proceedings;
- The appointment procedure for Tribunal Secretaries;
- The applicable laws, rules and principles relating to document production, disclosure and the Tribunal Secretary’s role in managing these processes; and
- The Tribunal Secretary’s role in drafting procedural documents and the administrative tasks associated with hearings
