Called to the English Bar in 1977 and taking silk in 1995, he practiced at Devereux Chambers until 2022, specializing in high-value, complex disputes in insurance, reinsurance, professional indemnity, and energy. He now accepts appointments as an arbitrator under LCIA, DIFC, ICC, UNCITRAL, HKIAC, and ad hoc rules and acts as a neutral evaluator. Recognized as a “Star Individual” by Chambers & Partners, he successfully represented the FCA in the landmark Covid-19 Business Interruption Insurance Test Case. A former Deputy High Court Judge, he chaired Bar Mutual Indemnity Fund Ltd (2013–2022). In 2023, he received the Chambers UK Bar Lifetime Achievement Award.
