David Roney is Global Co-Leader of Sidley’s International Arbitration Practice, with over 30 years of experience in complex international disputes. Based in Geneva and London, he acts as counsel and arbitrator in commercial and investment arbitrations across sectors including energy, infrastructure, life sciences, and technology. He has served in over 35 arbitrations under ICC, LCIA, SCC, UNCITRAL, and Swiss Rules. Notable cases include representing beIN Corporation in a billion-dollar claim against Saudi Arabia and TC Energy in a US$15 billion arbitration under USMCA. David is a co-founder of the FIAA, teaches at Geneva MIDS, and is ranked among the world’s top arbitration lawyers. He is qualified in Canada and the UK.
