Matthew Murphy has over 25 years of legal and business experience across China and the Asia-Pacific, focusing on intellectual property, technology, corporate (M&A), and international trade. He is an arbitrator (MCIArb) with HKIAC, the Beijing Arbitration Commission, and centres in Thailand, the Maldives, and BVI. A regular writer and lecturer on Chinese IP and tech law, he teaches at postgraduate level and advises global clients through his firm, MMLC. Previously, he led the Asia Pacific IP/IT group at Freshfields. Matthew also serves as Honorary Olympic Appeals Consultant for the Australian Olympic Committee and contributes to legal development projects with the UNDP and World Bank. He is admitted in Australia, Ireland/EU, and England and Wales, and speaks Mandarin.
