Sylvia, a partner in Freshfields LLP’s International Arbitration Group and Global Head of African Disputes, is a King’s Counsel and English-qualified solicitor advocate with over 25 years of experience. Based in London, she specializes in commercial and investment disputes, particularly in emerging markets, across sectors like aviation, energy, infrastructure, and telecoms. Sylvia has acted in ICSID, UNCITRAL, ICC, LCIA, and AAA arbitrations and sat as an LCIA arbitrator.Key cases include ICSID disputes for Anglo American and Glencore, UNCITRAL arbitrations for Deutsche Telekom, and ICC arbitrations for BP. She co-founded the Equal Representation in Arbitration (ERA) Pledge and serves on ICCA’s Governing Board.
