Willem van Baren has been an independent international arbitrator since 2016 and has served in over 100 arbitration cases as party-appointed arbitrator, chairman, sole arbitrator, emergency arbitrator, and expert under leading institutions such as CEPANI, ICC, LCIA, SIAC, and WIPO. He is a CEDR-accredited mediator and formerly a partner at Allen & Overy’s dispute resolution practice. Willem’s experience spans sectors like energy, banking, construction, pharmaceuticals, and transportation, addressing issues such as investment disputes, joint ventures, post-M&A, and contract termination. He conducts arbitrations in English and Dutch, with working knowledge of German, across diverse procedural and substantive laws.
